Starting a new project

My next project will be to develop an application that utilizes both the google maps API and the MediaWiki Action API. My reason for creating the project is that I have always wanted to create a simple application that shows the history of my favorite places around LA. My goal will be to create an effecient software application that can show the history of various locations around LA that I visit almost daily in order to learn more about the city of LA.
